NPK Ratio

  • N
    25
  • P
    6
  • K
    40

What NPK 25-6-40 Means (Hydroponic Nutrients)

NPK 25-6-40 is a hydroponic nutrient profile with higher N and K for fast vegetative growth, leaf colour, turgor and yield quality—plus sufficient P to build roots and structure. Ideal for leafy greens, herbs, fruiting crops and general “grow” phases in DWC, NFT, flood & drain, coco and soil.

  • Hydroponic nutrients: Fully water-soluble minerals for clean reservoirs and rapid uptake.
  • Performance ratio: 25% nitrogen (growth/green), ~6% phosphate (roots/structure), ~40% potash (vigor, flavour, resilience).
  • Two-part friendly: Commonly supplied as Part A & Part B to prevent precipitation and nutrient lockout.

In hydroponics, plants receive nutrition directly from the solution, so the NPK balance matters. With 25-6-40, nitrogen (N) supports chlorophyll production and leafy biomass; phosphorus (P) underpins root growth, energy transfer and early flowering signals; potassium (K) regulates water movement, enzyme activity and fruit quality. The elevated K in this profile helps strengthen stems, enhance colour and flavour and improve overall stress tolerance.

Our professional blends use high-purity salts such as Calcium Nitrate, Potassium Nitrate, Magnesium sources and chelated trace elements (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, B, Mo) for stability and availability. A two-part (A & B) format keeps calcium separate from phosphates/sulphates until diluted, preventing cloudy precipitates and keeping EC/ppm predictable.

  • Use: Suitable for hydroponic systems (DWC, NFT, ebb/flow), coco coir and soil. Great for greens, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, berries and ornamentals.
  • Mixing tip: Always add Part A to water and stir until dissolved, then add Part B. Never mix concentrates together.
  • Pairs well with: Cal-Mag in very soft water, and a bloom booster later if you want extra flower density.
  • Application: Follow label rates; apply to moist media. Monitor EC/ppm and pH for consistent results.
  • Safety: Not to be taken. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid eye/skin contact and rinse edible plants before consumption.

Reviews From Our Gardener's

Wow, noticeably better growth and excellent value
(read about my comparison)

I’ve been growing a range of plants in my hydroponic setup, mostly lettuce, kale, and spinach, and after switching to these nutrients, I’ve seen a huge improvement in growth and overall plant health. Everything in my setup stayed the same: lights, trays, timer, etc, so this was a fair comparison, and the difference was clear. My plants are growing faster, look more vibrant, and seem much healthier than when I was using the smaller bottle of nutrients that came with my kit. The cos lettuce (same seeds) also ‘stronger’ if thats possible!

These bottles are also great value for the volume you get. It’s easy to see why they come up as an Amazon recommendation. I didn’t realise how much of a difference nutrient quality could make until now.

I’ve attached a photo of my current setup (at about 4 weeks) so you can see the results for yourself. This is only half grown, I have run out of room. I think they are growing about 30% faster. Highly recommend this if you’re serious about getting better growth from your hydro system.

FAQ

Our hydroponic nutrient solutions are suitable for every major system type, including Deep Water Culture (DWC), Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), Ebb & Flow (Flood and Drain), Drip Irrigation, Aeroponics, and Recirculating Systems. The formula is fully water-soluble and clean-running, meaning it won’t clog emitters, tubing, or pumps — perfect for both small indoor setups and large commercial operations.
Start by adding the required nutrient concentrate to clean water while stirring. Always mix Part A and Part B separately to prevent precipitation. For most leafy greens, herbs, and fruiting plants, use between 5–10mL per litre of water depending on growth stage and EC levels. Regularly check your pH (aiming for 5.8–6.2) and adjust as needed.
For best results, replace your nutrient solution every 7–14 days, depending on system size, plant uptake, and water quality. Topping up with fresh water between changes helps maintain consistent EC and pH levels. In larger recirculating systems, perform a full flush every two to three weeks.
Yes. Although formulated for hydroponics, our nutrients perform equally well in coco coir and inert soil mixes. They provide a balanced NPK and micronutrient profile that supports strong vegetative growth and productive flowering, even outside of fully hydroponic systems.
